Dancing With The Stars is back for their second week of Season 32 tonight! Unfortunately, one celebrity-professional pair will be modified for week 2. Artem Chigvintsev is not taking the ballroom tonight, due to a positive COVID-19 test.

Artem Chigvintsev Sits Out of Dancing With The Stars Week 2

On Tuesday, October 3, DWTS announced that fan favorite Artem Chigvintsev will be unable to compete this week. Ahead of the announcement, it was revealed that Chigvintsev and Lawson would be performing a Cha Cha to “She Bangs” by Ricky Martin.

“Artem will not be dancing tonight due to COVID. Wishing him a quick recovery! ❤️ Charity will perform with Ezra for #LatinNight. #DWTS,” Dancing With The Stars wrote in their announcement.

Although Chigvintsev won’t be on stage with his partner tonight, his choreography will still be showcased. Lawson and Sosa most likely wouldn’t change tonight’s choreography, since The Bachelorette’s partner wasn’t out of the episode until today.

Who is Ezra Sosa?

For those who may not know, Ezra Sosa is a professional dancer that joined the series in Season 30 alongside Sofia Ghavami. During Season 30 the two were both troupe members (meaning they danced in all pro numbers, as well as background for competing couples) and understudies.

Ahead of DWTS, Sosa appeared on So You Think You Can Dance Season 16, where he made it into the Top 6. He also competed in World of Dance Season 2 as part of a group called The Pulse, they made it to “The Cut.”

Now, Sosa’s position is behind the scenes, for the most part. This season, he’s working as an associate choreographer alongside the show’s main choreographer, Luam. After last week’s episode, Sosa posted a long Instagram post explaining his new role.

“so honored to have been associate choreographer under @luamky for the opening number this season on @dancingwiththestars,” he wrote. “Even though my journey on the show has taken me behind the cameras this season, i love this family more than anything and i’m so excited to get to learn grow and watch all the incredible pros and stars this season!”
