Once the contestant is there, they have to create a new Performer Profile. Take note that this instruction applied even if you already made one for a past season. After doing so, you can then upload your video audition for season 19. If you’re under the age of 18, your parent or guardian should submit your audition.
Four virtual audition days will take place for AGT season 19. Dates include October 26, November 16, December 10, and January 20.
Practically, video and virtual auditions is the first round of the auditions. This will take place before Acts perform in front the Judges, which is the episodes fans see during the first weeks of the season.
“Anybody can sign up and have an audition with our casting team and producers. If they think that somebody is worth considering, they put them through to our executive producers. After they say yes, then the Act will go to audition in front of the Judges. We all see everything play out from there,” Theresa Graham, NBC’s network manager said.
As NBC insider gave a comprehensive guide about the auditions, AGT’s previous winners have special tips to share. Magician Dustin Tavella, who won season season 16, emphasized the the importance of enjoying amid pressure.
“I would say for anyone who’s wanting to be on the show, expect to be stretched and pushed to your max potential,” Tavella said. “I always tell people to go on, have a blast, and be yourself. Just be ready to learn and soak up as much as you can. Because this is an experience that you’re never ‘gonna forget’.”
Meanwhile, season 13 winner Shin Lim also has provided a practical advice for contestants.
“The worst thing you can do, especially if you’re broadcasting your talent to the world, is to not be prepared,” Lim said. “When you’re not prepared, then other factors come in that mess you up.”
According to Lim, contestants have to mind the music and timing, as well as the right shot for the camera angle.
“That can be distracting if you’re not comfortable with that. You’re like, ‘Oh I’ve got to stand here at this moment. I forgot about that.’ It seems like a really minor thing, but it actually ends up being really important,” he said.
America’s Got Talent season 19 will return to its annual summer slot. However, as of writing, no official date of its premiere has been announced yet.
