Brands across the world have felt the impact of a growing Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement that pro-Palestinian activists have pushed to pressure and punish companies that are perceived to support Israel’s deadly military campaign in Gaza. But the impact has been most pronounced in Muslim-majority countries across the Middle East and Southeast Asia, where boycotts on several fast-food chains have begun to pose an existential threat to franchisees despite pushback from local operators against allegations that their businesses are tied to Israel.
The story of “The White Crow,” Ralph Fiennes’ latest directorial effort, is as topical as anything currently sitting on the desk of a studio head. It tells of a rebellious artist grappling with his sexuality during turbulent political times rife with tensions between the United States and an agitated Russia.
Malenga Mulendema “Mama K’s Team 4”
In 2014 when Triggerfish Animation Studios’ Story lab put a call out across Africa for animators, Mulendema applied.
“Growing up in Zambia, there were not very many characters [on the screen] looking like me,” she says. “I got interested in writing and thought then I can do something visual.”
The Lusaka native was interested in writing for live-action films and didn’t have an animation background, but when she was chosen for the Cape Town workshop in August 2015, Mulendema planned “something fun” for her pitch.
While polygamy is practised in many tribes scattered around different regions of the wold, polyandry on the other hand has become almost extinct with only a handful of unique tribes still practicing it.
However, many cases of polyandry were recorded in the past in several tribes and in many variations. Women were allowed to marry more than one husband and even brothers from the same family.
In some cultures, a woman is subject to the se'xual needs of guests who visit her home as the husband is required to vacate his bed position to the visiting guest as a sign of welcome.
Bjork’s albums over the last 20 years or so have been epic journeys, deep in innovation and imagination, but often not exactly approachable — sort of like a James Joyce novel, the listener is constantly trying (and usually failing) to get a foothold.

Men’s shirts are among the few things in short supply in this bombastic, ultra-macho action vehicle for star Ranbir Kapoor.
A movie directed by the berserk “Muppet Show” character known as Animal couldn’t be any more unruly than Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s new film of that title. This sporadically fun but exhausting hot mess provides 202 minutes of hyperventilating overkill for star Ranbir Kapoor as a tycoon’s favorite son whose anger-management (as well as daddy) issues are off the charts.
