Wales makes Lonely Planets sustainable travel top ten destinations list

Travel experts Lonely Planet recently announced its annual hotlist of trending destinations for the coming year.

‘Wales, by Trails’ was included in the list of Lonely Planet’s ‘Best in Travel 2024’ for ‘Best Sustainable Destination’, alongside Spain, Patagonia, Argentina and Chile, and Greenland.

Recognised as leading the way in sustainability through our our ground-breaking Well-being of Future Generations Act, Wales will expand the possibilities of exploring the nation’s wild, wonderful west. New railway stations and increased services are planned for South Wales’s main rail line in early 2025, making the beautiful and nature-filled Pembrokeshire Coast National Park more accessible by rail.

Wales is working hard as a nation to improve its eco credentials, and is the perfect destination for a low-impact, sustainable holiday. We're proud of our protected landscapes, including the UNESCO Dyfi Biosphere, our focus on sustainable local produce and cutting edge research into environmentally-friendly technology.

We've also got several world-renowned eco-friendly places to visit. You can take courses in sustainable living, learn about our pristine landscapes and see how great attractions and community ventures can still have a low-carbon footprint.
